Why do people dye their hair unnatural colours? (Pink, blue...)?

My mom would like to have this explained to her.

Why do people (examples: Raquel Reed, Audrey Kitching, or anyone else...) dye their hair various rainbow shades?

Personally, I love a quality dye job, no matter what the colour. I appreciate colourful locks, but I don't really know why I love them.

People dye their hair unnatural colours because they want to stand out from a crowd. It might even be attention related because clearly, it does a good job at grabbing attention. For the most part, it is something different which not a lot of people have and that aspect tends to make it appealing.

i think some people like to express themselves that way. like other people write or paint. At lest this one girl i know is like that. she feels funky and want to look the part to. i think girls that do that are great because they are not concerned about what others think and that is a hard thing to expect.

Unique. Celebrities, esp. want to be noticed. It's different, and new. It's colorful and extremely different from the everyday colors, red, brown, black, blonde, etc. People that do this WANT to stick out in the crowd. You may like it, because it's done to look amazing, and have others want to have their hair color done crazy. It's different, funky, young, and fun, that's why you and others like it, I can understand that! =]
